What is thermal spray coatings?
Thermal spraying is an industrial coating process that consists of a heat source (flame or other) and a coating material in a powder or wire form which is literally melted into tiny droplets and sprayed onto surfaces at high velocity. There are several methods of thermal spray coatings such as Oxy fuel wire (OFW), electric arc wire (EAW), Oxy fuel powder (OFP), plasma arc powder (PAP) and high velocity fuel (HVOF). Thermal sprayed coatings are typically applied to metal substrates, but can also be applied to some plastic substrates. Thermal sprayed coatings uniquely enhance and improve the performance of the component. But the most common methods of thermal spray coatings we talk about is High velocity -fuel coating spraying (HVOF).
